Styled Inspiration

Neon wedding inspiration | a colour pop inspired bridal shoot!!

I’ve got to admit, I’m pretty petrified about posting this styled shoot! The reason? It was all a little bit last minute.com… This shoot came about after I tweeted on twitter to find a photographer to showcase someones gorgeous accessories ~ the lovely Kat of Kat Hill Fotographie jumped at the chance. One of the ideas was a 50s inspired shoot with a twist of 80s, and we absolutely loved it! We all went our separate ways and over the coming weeks we emailed back and forth… unfortunately though, something just wasn’t working! Our ideas just weren’t gelling… and I felt like I was procrastinating over every decision and we were getting nowhere! Time was scarily ticking away to the date of the shoot and finally, to my {dare I admit it} relief the person Kat and I were collaborating with dropped out. It was very sad that it turned out that way and I am gutted not to showcase their amazing designs but sometimes, sometimes… some people just don’t gel together creatively and it’s a tough situation to be in!

Anyway, I quickly contacted Kat and asked her if I could still get everything together would she be interested in continuing? Again, Kat jumped at the chance! So, here it is, the neon love ~ a colour pop inspired bridal shoot that I had just over a week to organise. I’m not gonna lie… it’s not exactly what I had in my minds eye {due to the limited time frame} but I do think some of it is GENIUS and sadly, some of it didn’t work. So I’ve selected what I think did work and it’s quite an eclectic mix. I really hope you enjoy XxX

The Inspiration Behind The Shoot

Whilst browsing online I became utterly captivated with a neon wedding shoot and I just knew I wanted to incorporate neon bursts of colour. I love the near total whiteness with the pops of bright colours and neon, it’s really edgy and cool and it’s a pretty way to incorporate this ‘in your face’ colour palette into your wedding day. Check out my pinterest for my virtual inspiration.

I wanted to create a cute candy cake station. I thought it’d look adorable to display yummy treats with bold pops of colour and neon detailing. It’s easy to order neon food colouring and neon sprinkles off the net. I ordered a few neon knick knacks to get into the creative flow and I particularly adore the LOVE sign, it’s so retro and cute! Purchased off Amazon!!

The wedding bouquet is a statement piece, pretty and bold with neon edges on the rose petals. It’s a nod to the dip dye trend and is an incredibly easy thing to recreate. The cake was purchased from good ole’ M & S and was decorated with some of the dipped rose heads. All you need is a can of neon spray paint!!

I love that the bright make-up, 50’s hairstyle and accessories, neon beads, cuff and earrings plus the beautiful 50’s wedding dresses with brightly coloured underskirts pull the whole look together. It shows what you brides-to-be can achieve if you put your minds to it! Who says neon can’t be used in your wedding? I don’t! {just maybe don’t do it ALL at once ;) }
