Art Nouveau | Wedding Inspiration & Ideas

Hey ladies, so what treats and delights do I have in store for you all today? Well, I thought I’d share some Art Nouveau wedding inspiration and ideas. Art Nouveau, not to be mistaken with the Art Deco period began in the 1890s and lasted until around the mid 1910s. It was characterized by either it’s elaborate ornamental style, think organic flowing shapes such as flowers and plants or it’s more linear, almost plain appearance. Art Nouveau was really popular around Europe and could be seen in everything from architecture and furniture to jewellery and poster illustrations.Art Nouveau | Wedding Inspiration & Ideas

Charles Renee Mackintosh was an architect and artist of the time who really helped develop the Art Nouveau movement in the UK. He was most famous for his unique furniture and the iconic rose design as well as the mackintosh font.

These Art Nouveau poster illustrations can be great inspiration for your wedding stationery in both the design aspect and the colour scheme. Colors were muted or dusty in appearance. Gold, green, beige, black, silver and some maroon. Blues were light with a tint of green. Pink too was muted to almost a salmon.

The female form in a pre-Raphaelite pose with long, flowing hair was also reminiscent of the times.

Art Nouveau marries well with the floral trend that’s huge right now in the wedding industry, think beautiful floral crowns and gowns with long flowing hair. For table styling use Tiffany lamps mixed with silverwear, peacock feathers and irridescent glass.
