Up-cycled Wedding Inspiration: Snow Day

Morning lovers! I’m so excited to share this gorgeous little collaboration by two talented ladies Heline Bekker and Gwenda Wilkes. They were really keen to get out and about in the snow to bring you this gorgeous Up-cycled Wedding Inspiration. They literally brought items they already owned to create this beautiful wedding inspiration.

It’s amazing how much ‘stuff’ we accumulate over the years. So many pretty trinkets and ‘must have’ items decorate our homes and languish in the back of our wardrobes. More often than not, as we grow up and evolve, move in with lovers, have children etc, many of these pretty items get relegated to dusty boxes… Look around at what you already own, what your friends and family already own and see if you can use some of these items to decorate your wedding…

Over to Heline {who shares the inspiration} and the gorgeous Gwenda…

When I heard that we were going to get some snow, I knew I had to make a plan to do a mini styled shoot.

I didn’t want to get a lot of people involved due to the nature of the weather, not knowing if and when it would snow.

So Gwenda and I put ourselves on standby :)

I wanted us to create a shoot with the things we already have. I believe that if you use your imagination you can do really amazing things with the things you own.

I’m from South Africa and told Gwenda I would love my little wooden animals on the table. She loves tulips and wanted to bring those. The little red sweets just happen to tie it all in together so well.

I called Gwenda’s wheat bouquet the ‘little fox tail’ bouquet. I love this bouquet so much because it’s so simple yet it looks amazing. And you can re-use it afterwards.

My advice would be, if you have a small budget, think of what is important to you and ask family and friends to help with the rest. The impact would be so much greater than if you try to spread your budget thinly over lots of things.

What an absolutely GORGEOUS little shoot. Thanks ladies, you’ve really made me think about all those things we hoard and the possibilities of an up-cycled wedding! I think if you were to make a concerted effort to speak to your friends and family at the beginning of the planning process you’d be amazed at what people could loan.

Think of all those items you have… need a shrug to cover your dress? I could name about 5 things I could use right now as a cute & cosy cover up. New shoes? Pah! Why not just rock your favourite pair? How many sets of fairy lights are in peoples lofts… mix and match chairs… the list could go on… and on…

And if you don’t have lots of ‘stuff’, there are loads of pre-loved wedding websites…

So what do you think? Do you think you could up-cycle your wedding? I’m sure with all the items I hoard, I definitely could!!

    1. Ooo I’ll have to ask Gwenda! I love the fox tail bouquet too. So simple but so effective XxX

  2. Great shoot. A lot of interesting features. I love the simple but clever touch of colour which includes Gwenda’s lipstick and how the tones of the sweets match the tulips’s.
