  1. Would these work if I hung them in branches in a tree? Picture two bridesmaids dressed in chocolate brown dresses, sitting on hay bales around a fire pit while they eat a cone of chips and sausage…
My colour scheme is chocolate brown, ivory and gold and the theme is beer festival/family fete so it’s outside on a cricket pitch (reception in a tipi).

    1. I love that you can mix and match the colours too! What do you think of the new luv comments thingy mejiggy? Yay or nay? XxX

        1. I saw it on chic vintage brides and then again when i was reading a post by the blog maven. I think it’s really lovely that your commenter gets a reward (the link) for posting on your blog :) XxX

  2. Our wedding is a relaxed vintage barn wedding so my colours are all mis-matched pastels so any colour combination of pastels would look great !!

  3. Ooh these are the lights I have been wanting to have at our 3 day festival wedding! We are getting married beneath a big oak tree and behind is our woodland grotto decorated with inspiring poems & readings hung from the trees, a sofa, a little drinkiboo & homemade cupcake for guests and strings of lanterns around the tables and trees (how perfect would these be?!?). It is also the spot for a late night bonfire later on, illuminated by soft lanterns and firelight :) The reception is then in an old stripy tent decorated in a sort of bollywood meets the Great British Bakeoff type way with bright colours and table runners I’m making from old sari fabric. Loads of bright colour, streamers and bright multicoloured strings of lanterns would make it perfect. We also wanted to drape some around the old guitar case that we are using for the Cards/guestbook box. Lanterns galore!

    1. Wow Kirra, sounds absolutely AWESOME!! When are you getting married? You are entry number 3 btw XxX

      1. Our ceremony & reception is on 13th August 2014, but we will be there all week with more official celebrations on the 2 surrounding days. the day before we will all be there together setting up & having a local pub dinner to get a chance to chat to spend more time with our guests & the day after having an Official Recovery Day with bacon butties for breakfast, Brits vs Aussies cricket match and a fish n’ chip van in the evening. Love your site by the way! Xx

        1. Hi Kirra, your wedding sounds pretty awesome and I’m loving the official recovery party! Thanks so much for the blog love. Stay tuned, I’m currently rebranding and will be launching a new look site soon :))

  4. I love these lights and they would be perfect for decorating the tables in our marquee for our evening reception which is something I have been deliberating over for sometime now!

We are mixing vintage with modern for our wedding. We are having a very small wedding with just 32 guests in the Yorkshire Dales. This part of our wedding will be focusing on the vintage part of our wedding. We have hired a marquee for the evening which will be in the grounds of our wedding venue. Our vision for the marquee is fun, quirky with a vintage twist.

We have multi coloured bunting lining the marquee, these lights would compliment the colourful bunting if they are used to dress the table.

Our wedding is multi coloured. My bridesmaid is in navy blue, however my bunting and flowers are a combination of blue, yellow, pinks and cream. Therefore my perfect colour combination for the cable cotton lights would be blue, yellow and pink! They are so unique and would provide the fun colourful aspect we are looking for!

    1. Hi Catherine! You sound like a total WTW bride! I do love a modern vintage wedding (my own wedding was 30s influenced) Your entry is number 4 :) XxX

      1. Thank you very much Sonia. Our wedding is on 7th September this year. I cannot wait. x x x

          1. Thank you very much Sonia, I am so happy that I have won this competition. xxx

  5. Our wedding is a relaxed barn wedding filled with muted pastel colors of lilac, mint, peach and stone gray. It’ll be playful and casual in nature (fullsize Jenga game in the outdoor courtyard for guests to sign each wood block at a guestbook, cake pinana instead of a traditional “cutting”, etc. The barn has high vaulted ceilings so I can’t wait to drape these beautiful lights from the ceilings and slung over the heads of the guests!

    1. Stunning colour combo Heather! your barn wedding sounds lovely. Are you getting married soon? Your entry is number 5 btw :) XxX

        1. Oh that’s fab that you have loads of time to plan everything! So how good are your origami skills? I made a batch for a wedding fair I exhibited at and I’ve got to say I had to practice to get the knack! I love that a 1000 cranes means 100 year of good luck XxX So sweet!

          1. I had stands and just dotted them around. I do think they look amazing as a hanging backdrop or even just strands hanging around the venue or from trees etc XxX I’m Soooo excited for you :))

  6. I adore these lights and am so glad I have just come across them (for the first time despite months of wedding planning and blog surfing) – thank you wantthatwedding! I have been deliberating over lighting options for the big day and haven’t settled on anything yet – these are colourful but stylish and subtle too and would work fantastically well I think.

Our wedding this summer is in a country house hotel – we are aiming for a relaxed and elegant feel with lots of little personal touches, so that the whole experience is about us and meaningful to our guests. We have a not too strict “shades of teal” colour scheme, and I think a mix of your prussian blue, turquoise and pale blue would look awesome!

    1. I absolutely ADORE that colour combo Wendy! Glad you’ve come across the WTW blog. Your entry is number 6 :)) good luck lovely XxX

  7. I love these! We are having our wedding in a marquee at my parents and I’m looking for ways to add some colour to the marquee itself – these would be perfect. Our colour scheme is yellow and grey. My parents are doing loads to make their garden look nice. Can these be used outside? Just thinking that it might be good to have lighting in the garden so all their effort can still be seen when it gets dark! Nicola x

    1. Hi Nicola, apologies your comment went into my spam box! You are entry number 8! I think these will be fine for outside, I guess it’s just all down to the good ‘ole British weather ;) XxX

  8. I love these! We are planning a London Pub wedding in July and the colours at the moment are ivory, beige and pale pink. These would look amazing across our dancefloor with the Mexican picado flags I have already!

    1. Hi Kate, an involuntary little squeak came out when you mentioned picado Mexican flags! I LOVE THEM! You must be so excited about your wedding? I hope you find loads of inspiration on the WTW. You are entry number 7 XxX

  9. My perfect colours would be a dark pink fuscia shade with purple; the pink to coordinate with my bridesmaids & the purple as that’s the colours of the boys’ cravats & buttonholes (couldn’t convince the boys to accessorise with pink!)

    1. Thanks for your entry Eildith you are number 9! Trying to get the boys to do what we want can sometimes be tough hey ;)

  10. Eclectic! We will not be tied to a theme so if it looks like a kid organised it so be it! We would go for pastel colours like a sweetie bracelet – yum!

  11. My wedding is a summer beach theme so my perfect colour combo would of course be my wedding colors which are yellow and hot pink!

    1. Hi Tiffany, your entry is no. 11 :) I’m loving the sound of that hot pink and yellow colour combo XxX

  12. We are having our reception in an old tin chapel built in 1883. It’s beautifully simple with white washed walls, wooden floors and an exposed beam ceiling set in the middle of the exquisite Sussex countryside.

Our venue allows us to make our mark and through research and inspiration we have often wondered into the Brighton Cable and Cotton store and feel that a selection of the pastel shades; pure white, ivory, pale pink and dusty rose and lace bunting would set off our venue perfectly!

  13. Loving the lights they would fit in perfectly wth our vintage country festival style wedding. We have hired wedding teepees and will be filling them with mixed colour rustc flowers and bunting and so having the lights in plain cream would perfectly complement the business of the other colours and add a fun warming glow to the tables.

  14. Our wedding is eclectic! We refuse to be tied down to a theme. We are just choosing a load of stuff we like and so it may look like a couple of kids organised it! If we were to win we would like a string of pastel lights like a sweetie necklace – yum! Or possibly some brights.. Oh decisions!

  15. I love these lights and have coveted them for months! I would love them in shades of plum and cream to match my theme!

    1. Hi Alison you are entry number 14! Plum and cream should always be seen… Did you see my purple mood board? It was rather dreamy XxX

  16. I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the multi coloured ones these would be fab for our beach wedding in Portugal next year…i love things like this. i would have them hanging and draped everywhere. especially with the paper multi coloured large pom poms that i want to hang everywhere. its definitely all about colour..Gorgeous…

    1. Hi Danielle you are number 15! These are perfect for a beach wedding. Will be drawing the number later today. Good luck :) XxX
