A Duty Free Love Story: Engagement Shoot | Tom + France

I’m so in love with this couple! Tom and France met in a duty free lounge and have been inseparable ever since! To celebrate their engagement they took part in a lovely little love shoot captured by talented wedding photographer, Heather of Brighton Photo. I’m in awe of the urban-ness (is that really a word?) and the colourful vibrancy of these images and how clearly, totally and utterly smitten this couple are with each other…

The lovely couple’s story…

How did you meet and fall in love?

We met in the duty free! We had been at the same festival in Croatia (the Electric Elephant) and our eyes met over a bottle of spirits (which was to become a recurring theme…) We talked in the departure lounge and ended up sitting together on the plane and flirting outrageously all the way home! (Special thanks to France’s mate Charlotte who took one for the team and listened to her iPod, (although I did buy her a mini bottle of wine first).

The proposal

All the details :) how, where, when..

We went to New York for a week and I plied her with drink one afternoon and popped the question in Madison Square Park, under the watchful eye of Spiderman! We went to the NYC diamond district the next day to choose a ring and a diamond, after a morning of looking around and haggling we bought it from a Russian jeweller and sealed the deal over shots of vodka! Then spent the rest of the day living it up in Manhattan showing everyone the rock and having a few free glasses of champagne. Best day ever : )

The marriage

Where and when are you tying the knot? What kind of a wedding are you having?

In Birmingham where we live, we are having a civil ceremony at Fazeley Studios, it used to be a chapel and a Sunday school but now has a modern contemporary look. France is from France (of course!) so we are having a white Citroen 2CV for our wedding car, a photo booth from our friends at Confetti Booth, and a few other surprises people will have to wait to find out on the day! We made our own invitations out of 7 inch vinyl records which looked pretty cool.

Love quotes

I knew it was love when…

To be honest I was pretty much smitten from our first date, we went to the Big Chill bar in Kings Cross with the intention of having a bit of a disco on the roof terrace (which we did even though it was raining), we were dancing to ‘I Want Your Love’ and when we had a bit of a kiss afterwards I confessed that I wanted to do that since we were on the plane! Bless!

For me well it was ditto! Smitten from the day I met him! When he told me he wanted to kiss me since we were on the plane, I was delighted because it’s exactly how I felt while on board cloud 9! Tom managed to give me a “jaw ache” by making me smile non stop & a minor skin rash by kissing so much from his stubbles!!! It was all worth it!
