Finding your wedding venue can be a bit of trickster right? So many things to consider and isn’t it a bit of a slog trying to visit as many venues as possible to find the right one?!

If you’re looking for a venue recommendation in Yorkshire, then I have one for you that I think would be perfect for an outdoor wedding. Not so long ago I was invited to review a lovely wedding venue set in the hills of the North York Moors. The wedding venue? Ox Pasture Hall Hotel.

As it was my birthday the hubs and I decided to get away for a few days and explore the pretty little seaside town of Whitby and check out the venue. Upon arrival we were treated to a lovely champagne cream tea in the garden. Apart from a minor wasp incident, it was the perfect way to relax after a long drive.

That evening we were also invited to dine in their award winning restaurant, and to say the food was delicious certainly does not do it justice. I may have sounded like a bit of a London wanker when I announced to the waiter serving us how great the food was and then dropping in that I’ve eaten at many Michelin starred restaurants… However, the waiter didn’t treat me disdainfully and he let that one slide…

Back in our luxury room, Chris and I settled down with a couple of glasses of prosecco to watch a bit of tv when the door bell sounded. Who could it be? Only room service delivering the dessert that we couldn’t fit in earlier… Ridiculously, ridiculously yum.

The following day we were up and at ’em for a day out in Whitby . After a picturesque journey via steam train through the moors we arrived in the seaside town. We decided to take a little walk up to Whitby Abbey where we were greeted with majestic views of the coastline and of course, Whitby Abbey. After a stroll around the ruins we headed back down into town, dodging the tourists before slipping into a working mans pub for an alcoholic tipple.

Back at the hotel, we enjoyed another fabulous meal and then it was off to bed for a food coma induced snooze! The following morning was check-out day and it was so lovely to just hang out in the room with our very generously sized continental breakfast. Our super king bed was almost impossible to get out of, definitely one of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in.

Before we were due to leave, I had an appointment with the hotel manager to show me round the whole grounds and the barn that was set up for a wedding taking place later that day. It was to be an outdoor wedding, so it was a case of fingers and toes crossed that the fine weather held out. It’s good to know though that like any good outdoor British wedding venue, there was a contingency plan should the weather turn a bit wet!

After checking out the barn which was decorated rather prettily, it was time to check out the outdoor wedding space. I have to admit, I was a tad jealous of any lucky couple having an outdoor wedding there, the views were so perfect making Ox Pasture Hall an idyllic place to say ‘I do’.
