A Modern 1920s Inspired, Christmas Winter Wedding: Beth & Jonty
It seems rather strange sharing a winter wedding with you after all this glorious sunny weather we’ve been basking in. I am sure though, sunshine or not, you will be utterly inspired by this modern take on a 1920s vintage wedding.
Footwear designer Beth, chose a stunning Etsy headpiece and a vintage-esq wedding gown by Eliza Jane Howell. She accessorised it perfectly with a pair of patent wine red hued heels, a gorgeously glam fur coat and a long pretty veil. Absolutely stunning modern vintage perfection!

Our wedding was based on a modern twist on the 1920s and I knew that I wanted this to be reflected in my wedding dress. I fell in love with the detail in the dress and the simplistic shape. It fit in so well with my bridesmaid dresses and it was beautifully made!
Ferndown Florists are so brilliant. They make the most beautiful bouquets, we went for a wintery, loose, foliage style which they did so well. We added some red berries to add a bit of colour into our flowers.
Being a Footwear Designer I wanted my shoes to be perfect. I looked for months and I ended up going for the same colour as my bridesmaids shoes to tie in the wine red ties and flowers. I managed to get my patent, pointed toe, wine red shoes from Office for a great price and they complimented the dress really well.
My bridesmaids dresses were from Miss Selfridge. They are so gorgeous, so much so that I wish I bought one for myself! They fit in so well with the whole theme of our winter wedding. Sparkling with the winter lights. They also wore styles of patent wine red shoes to compliment the grey flappers dresses and the red ties for the men.
The flower girls dress and shoes were from Monsoon and her hair piece from Accessorize. I chose for her to wear a little white dress with art deco detailing to match my dress.
I found my head piece on Etsy.com. It was so beautiful! I wanted a headpiece to complete the 20s look and this was the perfect addition to my dress. It received lots of compliments!
I also wore a veil longer than my dress to elongate the look. I purchased this from Chameleon In Pokesdown, Dorset.
We chose a navy blue vintage car to fit in with our 1920s theme. The car was gorgeous and authentic.
We chose to get married in our church. It’s beautiful and is home for us, so there was really no better place to get married.
All the groomsmen suits were from Next and the buttonholes and ties were chosen to compliment the winter, red wine colour scheme.
My dad gave me away and also did the address to add a personal touch to the ceremony which was really special. We walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D.
Our cake was homemade. We wanted something yummy and fitting with our wedding, so we went for red velvet cake with white frosting and frozen red berries. The cake topper was from Etsy.com – a great, reasonable buy!
Our wedding photographer were Cotton Candy Weddings – Gemma and Philippa are amazing!
They captured all the special moments of our wedding as well as portraying the modern 20s theme within the photos.
They blended in and were so natural in their approach. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for 2 lovely photographers – to capture your wedding with a vintage and natural style.
We chose to have our reception at Sandbanks Hotel as it has a beautiful location. The harbor on one side and the beach on the other.
Many of our memories have been on the beach in our relationship so we knew that the beach was the place we wanted to have our wedding day. It’s beautiful – who wouldn’t!
For wedding favours we made little favour bags with lindt chocolates inside. Just something small to say thanks for coming.
If you could impart any words of wisdom to future brides planning their wedding days, what would they be?
Enjoy it! It’s a once in a lifetime experience and it can seem long and unending but it will be the best day of your life so make the most of all the planning and have fun with it!
Plan with your friends and remember that the day is for YOU not the guests attending – it’s easy to want to make everyone else happy but this day is to celebrate your love.
What a gorgeous and wonderful winter wedding. Loving those red wine hues and it’s vintage vibe! Massive congrats to Jonty & Beth – We hope married life is treating you well.
