A Vintage Pastel, Robot Themed Wedding Shoot!

When we first approached Naomi about styling this shoot our ideas were ‘off the wall’ but Naomi knows us well and could see our vision and totally ran with it!

Nicci & Jenni (That’s us, Fizzy Robot) are not new to the wedding photography world but our paths have crossed and we have seen this as fate. We are passionate, a little ditzy, slightly bonkers but completely LOVE what we do and how we bounce off each other.

We see our future as beyond exciting and we are like cats that got the cream at every wedding we attend!!

From Naomi,

When we discussed the new branding for ‘Fizzy Robot Photography’ it became very clear that we needed to use this opportunity for a robot themed wedding themed shoot.

The branding for the company was going to be very 1950s which is why we chose to stick to pastels and the vintage theme. We wanted to weave robots throughout the shoot and show how a certain concept can be carried through a wedding day without it becoming ‘tacky’.

The purpose of the shoot is to inspire couples to think ‘outside the box’ for their wedding through achievable styling. It also promotes the use of using local suppliers- bringing together suppliers in and around Brighton.

The venue for the table and the wedding itself took place in a private room in Cafe Rust, Brighton. It’s a small quirky room where you can hold small functions.

We used geometrics to bring the theme together and because geometric styling at weddings is becoming more popular. This was included in the stationery designed by Holly Hock Lane and in the cake designed especially for the shoot by Wicky Woo Woo Cakes.

We wanted the classic 1950s hair styles which A Flair 4 Hair created beautifully with again 1950s bold make-up created by Lucy Pardoe.

We used dresses from Oh My Honey, as the overall theme for these dresses is 1950s- recently Louise designed a brand new collection and we were keen to include one of these dresses in the shoot. The gold and pink spotted dress (Lexi) fitted in with the whole day perfectly.

Teamed with the dress was a pair of handmade Merle and Morris shoes which looked amazing against the baby blue colours. To tie in the ‘his and her’ robot idea we included a groom in the shoot who wore Gresham Blake. Gresham Blake have a store in Brighton; they design beautiful garments with a quirky twist.

The use of vintage robot figures and the robot heads were perhaps the wackiest part of the shoot but actually look very much at home with the rest of the suppliers items. Overall, the pastels, geometrics and robots all worked with each other to make this shoot a success.

The car is technically a 1960s car (for all those vintage car buffs out there) but it suited the theme perfectly and the colour against the Brighton blue sky and Oh My Honey pink dress looked amazing. This car is available to hire.

Such a fun bridal shoot! We are loving the quirky robots and pastel geometric styling. Are you planning to theme your wedding? Perhaps you can find inspiration here.
