An Elegant Black, White & Gold Wedding With A Bride In Sequin Dress: Heather & Michael

Brides and grooms planning an intimate dinner party style wedding will fall in love with today’s classy elegant, black, white & gold wedding.

What’s more, gorgeous bride Heather wore a non-traditional wedding dress, head to toe sequins from Phase Eight.

I don’t wear dresses often and didn’t want a traditional big wedding dress. This was the perfect shape for me and I loved the fact it was head to toe sequins – a bit different from the usual, and very me.

We’re both from West Sussex, so wanted to stay local for our wedding. We wanted to go with a black, white and gold theme with a 20s twist, and the venue (Chichester Harbour Hotel) fitted that perfectly.

My Dad walked me down the aisle the instrumental intro from Kygos album ‘Cloud Nine’ – beautiful music which built up.

Walking down the aisle and seeing everyone was a pretty special moment, and the shared Best Man’s speech was memorable!

We didn’t want a really traditional wedding – we wanted it to feel more like a special dinner and reception, and to keep it simple and elegant. We started out with a 20s idea, but it was a mix of 20s and 50s glamour by the end.

Our wedding photographer was fantastic and made us both feel very comfortable – and we aren’t photo people, particularly Michael!

Being a big fan of a classic jaguar (especially after watching cruel intentions) we hired a black Jaguar MK1 to take us from our ceremony venue to our reception.

Michael and I met at school when we were 14, and got together at 17. He proposed six years later when he was about to move to Italy for 6 months and wanted to ask me before he left. He proposed at the Benbow Ponds where we had some photos taken on our wedding day, which made those pictures really special.

We both prefer savoury to sweet, so opted for a 5 tier cheese-cake, which we ordered from Pallant in Arundel. We picked cheddar, manchego, yarg, waterloo and a heart shaped cheese. It formed the basis of our evening food and went down well.

If we could impart any wisdom to brides and grooms we would say… Don’t worry about the small things as chances are you’re the only person who will notice them. For us, one of the best bits of the day was when we took the car to go and get photos taken – it was wonderful to spend a bit of time with just the two of us.
