Back To Nature! A Misty Alfresco Family Farm Wedding: Elzani and André

Elzani and André had a mystical and misty wedding on their family farm – the Evergreen Estate in South Africa.

With lots of homemade details and a ‘back to nature’ theme this is one stunningly understated wedding.

Beautiful images by Yolande Marx Photography and words by Elzani.

We married on Andre’s family farm, his family are foresters. The wedding venue was originally built 7 years ago by his Dad for his oldest brother’s wedding.

I choose my wedding dress as it hugged me in all the right places, showed off the right curves and hid the not so nice ones.

My earrings were a gift from my mother. She had them especially made from plastic ones I use to wear allot. She took them to a jeweler who made ones with real pearls.

We bought all our flowers at a flower market and did the arranging ourselves. We wanted to involve family and friends so our moms  and friends did the flowers.

It was extremely misty on our wedding day with the thunder rumbling over everyone’s head.

The bridesmaid dresses were custom made – after a few disasters we had to make new ones a week before the wedding. All of my maids tried the dresses on for the first time on the actual wedding day. eeeek

I walked down the aisle to Ben Howard’s “Only Love” it added to the mystical misty moments of the day.

Our wedding photographer was Yolande Marx – she truly knows how to capture special special human moments.

When it came to the styling of our wedding day we wanted a laid back alfresco vibe and most of all we did not want to detract from the nature. So we kept it low key.

We had wooden tables especially built for the wedding.

What was your most memorable moment of the day / evening?

Wow so much to choose from – my top moments were my dad seeing me for the first time in my wedding dress and getting in the car on our way to the ceremony with with my brothers and my father. My original three men in my life. The loves of my life.

If you could impart any words of wisdom to a future brides planning their wedding day, what would they be?

To truly always value what the wedding day is about and if some of your plans goes awry the just let it go and enjoy!! We had no water and electricity for three days before the wedding due to a power line fault and we just made the best of it.

We danced to “Sweet Disposition” form Temper Trap – we just both loved the song.

Gosh darn what a stunning wedding and couple! So in love with this outdoor wedding and all that mist created such a magical atmosphere.

And below the credits we have their gorgeous wedding video. Get the tissues ready as it is so sweet…
