Dark & Dusty Intimate Boho Wedding: Zarja & Matic

Dark & Dusty Intimate Boho Wedding

We have always wanted to visit Thailand so this seemed like a fun adventure. We combined our intimate boho wedding with the honeymoon, so we stayed there longer and travelled all around Thailand (& loved it!).

Wedding Dress

My wedding dress by Pronovias was light and simple yet different than usual dresses for brides (it was not white), it had such beautiful details. My headpiece was by Olivia Rose Bridal Designs.

Wedding Theme

Our wedding planners designed a very bohemian themed wedding for us. We used lots of dusty dark colours. Even though we married on a tropical island, we wanted to incorporate something from our European culture into our wedding theme.

Ceremony

My best friend (we had a tiny wedding with just 5 guests – our friends) gave me away. We walked down the aisle to Ruelle – I get to love you.

Decor

Wedding Boutique Phuket decorated our boho altar with natural and coloured pampas grass and tropical flowers. My bridal bouquet was stunning and had tropical flowers, dried leaves and feathers, with dark, vivid accents, finished with long silk and velvet ribbons. The Dinner table under hundreds of fairylights was just amazing in every detail, from the vintage candelabras to the bohemian purple glasses, the dark napkins with the gold cutlery and the printed menu with Boho feathers.

Most Memorable Moment

This is quite hard to answer. Probably seeing each other – that first glance you have between one another coming down the aisle.

Words of Wisdom

Have the wedding day the way you wish to. If you choose a destination wedding make sure you hire a wedding planner. They will make all of the planning simple without unneeded stress. My wedding planner really listened to our wishes and interpreted them so well, even though we met once through Skype. Ilare and her team made our day so special, like a fairy tale.

How We Met

We met in high school in 2012. Firstly, we were really good friends and spent a lot of time together. After Zarja went to study abroad we actually started dating. So now we are together for 7 years and expecting a baby boy in January.

The Proposal

It was our half anniversary and I had a trip planned with my girlfriends the day after. So the night before he prepared dinner in the garden. Because I love Japanese cuisine, the dinner included an udon ramen bowl, sushi plate, daifuku as dessert. He prepared all of the dishes himself – it took him the whole day! The dessert was plated in the tree house and when we got up and sat down, he said he had turned on the lights – but I did not really notice. So he asked me to turn around and look…

So I turned around, and there was a sign saying “Marry Me” written out in lights. And when I turned back he was on one knee and asked “Will you marry me?”. Truthfully, I was not sure if it was a joke or if he really meant it. But after a few times asking him “Seriously?!” I caught my breath and said “Of course. Yes.”
