Shoot Details & Inspiration

Oh to travel again… in the meantime, we have brought those dreamy, Grecian vibes to England with this stunning, Grecian inspired wedding editorial. Inspired by the balmy greek afternoon sun and rich, earthy undertones; this wedding shoot infuses bohemian trends with fine art minimalist designs.

Words and images by Natalie Stevenson.

The Venue

With rich hues, textured dried blooms and elegant styling, follow our wandering bride to be inspired. Set in the enchanting, weathered ruins of St. John The Evangelist Church in Oxborough, Norfolk; this light-filled and airy venue, which hosts real wedding ceremonies, offers the ideal location for this warm, European inspired concept.

The Bridal Look

The bridal look was inspired by Hera, the Greek goddess of marriage, with naturally fallen hair complete with a unique, intricately detailed crown, a nod to the goddess’ prestige. The gown choices were soft and flowing with trailing leaf detail to encompass the natural and whimsical style of the editorial.

The Tablescape

The styled tablescape was carefully designed by The White Emporium with a soft neutral base, complete with the intensity of rich plum, grape and raspberry tones presenting in the florals, ribbons, candles and stationery with some soft nudes, creams and greenery to soften the contrast, you could add a cheap table runner to also soften the look. Gold antique candlesticks were in keeping with the historical setting, juxtaposed with the modern plates and matt gold cutlery.

The Florals

The florals were a delightful harmony of whimsical blooms, contrasting in colour but working oh-so-beautifully. With the olive tree being one of the most iconic trees in greek culture and mythology, our florist and stationery were keen to include lots of delicate olive branches as a nod to greek culture.

The Cake

The true masterpiece cake was designed with a texture to resemble the beautifully aged walls of the Church, adorned with Grecian sales, in-keeping plum and nude sugar flowers with modern gold accents to finish. The alluring architecture, minimalist styling, neutral and gold accents together with rich plum, raspberry and grape notes creates a casually elegant style resembling Grecian charm with a chic and modern twist.
