Honesty & Elegance: Elegant Gold & Blush Wedding Inspiration

The main inspiration for the Honesty & Elegance shoot came from a flower that gets very little admiration. The honesty flower is also known as the silver dollar. With its translucent shiny surface, this flower is simple in design and has a vision of beauty when displayed.

It was the perfect element to achieve the vibe of romance and my love for nature and flowers and my passion to create something breath-taking. My design was to bring elegance, romance and floating elements throughout the design of the decor. Pure white, ivory and the palest of blush pink florals were to be used to add just a hint of colour.

Honesty & Elegance: Elegant Gold & Blush Wedding Inspiration

Stationery

This unique design was the perfect accent for the tables. With clear acrylic menu cards with matching seating plan, created in her very own ivory handwritten calligraphy and gold accents bringing a beautifully modern feel incorporating the overall look.

The Venue

Millwards estate is surrounded by natural beauty and when we first saw the enchanting lake, gorgeous lush green tree lines and ducks waddling around the grounds it was simply perfect for our romantic wedding theme. The shoot was set in their marquee and being able to draw back the walls showcased the natural surroundings.

Harp

The piece de resistance was Fiona, our harpist with the magical sounds from her harp that truly encapsulated the elegance of this shoot. The harps’ elegant design and gold feature enhanced our shoot perfectly.

Ceremony

The ceremony needed to be delicate as I wanted to capture the lush outside surroundings at Millwards. The backdrop stands were created with cascading white florals,  each elegant and delicate in design. To enhance the aisle, a trail of pastel pink and white floral was added. Tall urns with cascading blossoms and foliage were a perfect enhancement.

Celebrants

Our celebrants for the day Rose and Grace were professional from head to toe, from their outfits that matched the scenery perfectly down to their gorgeous faux leather ceremony pouch designed and created to match the shoot’s design.

Photography

Our Alison really did capture every moment and each element of this shoot. Bringing in her own twist and design to her photography. She allowed our models to be natural and captured real-time photos as well as staged photos.

Table Centrepieces and décor

I wanted to bring this same element to the floristry décor for the tables. I used a subtle gold palm leaf that echoed the shape of the long tails of our birds amongst soft ivory and pale blush roses, white maple leaf and cascading honesty set within each display. I found elegance in the candles.

The craftsmanship in their design, lacquered finish, and stunning long shape with a subtle hint of colour was the perfect enhancement to the table. Having such an open space I wanted to bring the ceiling into the concept and created hanging displays of chiffon and honesty at each end of the table with lamp shades that appeared as if floating.

Furniture and tableware

I wanted the overall look to be cohesive and luxurious. Event hire had the perfect products. I couldn’t resist using their stunningly beautiful gold-edged ivory chairs and added gold beaded plates, stylish gold-rimmed glasses and cutlery to complete the look.

Matched with the hints of glass and gold candle holders supplied by Amanda at Hire Your Day. The finishing touches to the table were the beautifully designed cupcakes by sovereign cakes holding a gold/ivory buttercream topping cupcake in an embellished box of gold ribbon and gold leaf to represent the bird’s feathers.

Bride bouquet

I wanted the bride’s bouquet to be created with just the honesty. Nothing added and it truly did speak for itself. A perfect combination for Anna Maria to hold with her floating feather dress.

Cake

Val’s brief was to bring a modern elegance to her cake design. By using both silky smooth and textured surfaces, echoing the honesty flower and natural surroundings in a unique modern way. We wanted the cake to be a centrepiece, with simplicity and beauty and set within its own surroundings.

Lounge Area

Milwards gorgeous snug, designed to be our vibrant lounge area.  Event hire supplied their modern bright blue velvet sofa perfectly complementing the colour of our birds. A real statement piece that would be the main feature in this room with my neutral tone coffee table set in front of the sofa that gave that modern twist.

This modern feel was enhanced by Vintage Gems gorgeous pineapple stand, my circular drinks trolley and coloured glassware from event hire that gave a fun tropical ambience.  Vintage Gems supplied a gorgeous crockery set and accessories trolley for her afternoon tea displays that stood amongst Milwards bear statues.

Surrounded with tropical flowers and hints of the birds floating throughout the decor it gave us a room that had modern vibrancy and neutral elegance perfectly set in the backdrop of milwards riverside.

Hexagonal Arch

Amanda helped with styling our shoot along with bringing in her wow factor gold hexagonal arch. It was huge!!!  I didn’t want to take away the hexagonal design, so I designed a display created with pampas grass, honesty and ostrich feathers. I wanted the floristry to be the tone of the shoot but also stand out amongst the river bank.

Milwards BFG

When I visited Milwards and was coming down the driveway I was greeted by BFG. A truly remarkable looking white horse.

Anna Maria took it all in her stride sitting on top of him still looking relaxed and elegant. Whilst Elicia and Tony took it all in their stride standing by BFGs side. It was a beautiful part of the day when the sun came out and the results were fabulous, encapsulating the Milwards surroundings.

Our day

Each of the suppliers brought their own concept and personalities to this shoot. They were open to our designs and creations and gave their own twist to their individual skills. We thank them individually for being patient on the day and seeing it through to the end.

I look back at the photos and smile because it was everything, I dreamt it would be. I shared it with my wonderful friends that I have gained within the wedding trade and a massive part of my journey in creating my business, I can’t thank you enough, along with my daughter Elicia and friend of 40 years Anthony sharing and being a part of this shoot. What a fabulous day.
